Kevin Smith joined Robert A.M. Stern Architects in 1999 and has been a Partner in the firm since 2008. Mr. Smith served as Project Architect for the LEED Platinum Dorothy D. and Roy H. Park Center for Business and Sustainable Enterprise for the Ithaca College School of Business, Ithaca, New York. Mr. Smith was Project Manager for the LEED Gold Alan B. Miller Hall for the Mason School of Business at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia; the Spangler Campus Center at the Harvard Business School in Boston, Massachusetts; the Campus Center and Communications Technology Complex at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis; the Smeal College of Business Administration at Penn State University, State College, Pennsylvania; and the Museum Center at the Mark Twain House in Hartford, Connecticut, the first LEED-certified museum in the United States. He was Senior Project Manager for the Baker Library | Bloomberg Center at the Harvard Business School in Boston, Massachusetts; and the Northwest Corner at the Harvard Law School in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Mr. Smith also carried out the site selection and conceptual design study for the College of Law at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky. His current projects include the Hancock Technology Center at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York; a planned suburb in Seoul, Korea; and Tour Carpe Diem, a 485,000-square-foot office building in Courbevoie, France.
For eight years Mr. Smith was associated with the Liebman Melting Partnership, where he was Principal and Staff Architect. His projects there included the 7,500-unit Arverne redevelopment and Spring Creek Gardens, a 750-unit low-income housing project. Among his clients were Forest City Ratner and Zeckendorf Realty. In addition, he established Liebman Melting’s Berlin office, where he directed design and planning work for the redevelopment of Brochow, Germany. Mr. Smith was a Senior Vice President of Jeepers!, Inc., in Waltham, Massachusetts, a national chain of indoor animated theme parks. His responsibilities have included prototype development, purchasing, planning and real-estate acquisition.
Mr. Smith has also worked with Herbert Newman, Architect, on the renovation of the Yale University Chapel; with Jonathan Barnett on the urban design plan for Bridgeport, Connecticut; and with Robin Moscow, Ltd., where he supervised construction and tenant fit-out and assisted in the leasing of a 50,000 square foot office building in downtown Moscow.
Mr. Smith is a graduate of Yale University (B.A., cum laude, 1980; M. Arch., 1984). He has been a registered architect in the State of New York since 1986.
